Changes in the Way We Plan Our Funerals [Infographic]

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

We don’t know about you, but here at Une Belle Vie, we’re suckers for a great, relevant infographic, so when we found this one from the site MySendOff.com, we just had to share it with you. We spend so much time talking about personalizing your funeral or how to have a traditional funeral that we wanted you to see that it’s not just us. Personalized funerals are becoming more and more common as the Baby Boomer generation begins to pass away. They did it their own way during their lives, now they want to go out in the way that they want, not the way that society dictates.

A few things of note in this infographic; cremation is steadily on the rise. Some people say it’s because funerals/burials are just too expensive, but as the infographic points out, they really haven’t gotten that much more expensive. It’s more than likely several factors, which include some eco-conscious reasons, a lack in belief of religious traditions and a desire to keep costs down to an extent.

One of the more notable items in this infographic on personalized funerals is the fact that many funeral homes are adding a lot more customizable options into their services. Where once you could only find several traditional options, now most funeral homes offer a myriad of options to make your funeral or your loved one’s funeral that much more individual.

What about you? Did you learn anything interesting or new from this infographic that you found surprising?
