Due to the nature of wood materials and the inspiration of our artists, each of our wooden urns and wooden pet urns has a unique grain that makes it one-of-a-kind. The character and life force of a wooden urn is in its grain, and the grain of each urn is as unique as the beloved person or pet it honors.
To create our wooden cremation urns, our artists use a variety of wood materials. Some relish in carving beautiful urns out of urban trees destined for land fills, such as Siberian elm, silver maple, green ash, and box elder. Others select more exotic wood materials.
Many of our artists use a lathe ― a rotating, wood-working instrument ― to forge and shape the wood. Due to the artisan nature of wood carving, every piece has a different finish and shine, and various finishes bring out vivid color tones in the wood. Urns made of wood are sturdy and durable.
Wooden urns tend to be more sturdy and durable than other types of cremation urns, with the exception of metal urns. While it’s possible to nick or dent a wooden urn, you’re unlikely to break it, making it ideal for display in many parts of your home.
