Caring about the environment is usually referred to as “green living,” but it doesn’t have to stop after your death. From choosing whether to be cremated or buried to deciding how to be memorialized, the decisions you make for your funeral can have a huge impact on the environment.

To celebrate Earth Day, we’ve put together an infographic outlining the impact of a traditional funeral, and the various ways you can go green, like a biodegradable urn, even after you pass away. With a little care, you can create a beautiful memorial for a loved one (or plan an appropriate funeral for yourself), and show a little love to the Earth at the same time.
