Losing a parent is never easy, regardless of how long their life was. Sometimes we think we are prepared and know exactly what we are going to do for them when they pass away, and sometimes plans change to reflect a different aspect of their life.
Linda decided to change the urn from a focus on her mother’s career to a focus on her mother’s passions, watching movies and specifically Humphrey Bogart. Linda was able to get exactly what she and her family wanted for her mother, a custom Maltese Falcon Urn, and she is very thankful!
Here is Linda’s Story:
My mother passed away at age 90 in 2020. As we were talking to the funeral home about cremation, I saw an urn that looked like books and thought that would be a good choice for a former English professor. But we didn’t want to make a rushed decision, so once she had made her final journey, she arrived at my home in the box provided by the funeral home. For about a year, she stayed in that box while I tried to figure out what to do. Finally, I decided to try to find an urn that looked like book, and so I started surfing the web. I ran across the Une Belle Vie website and started looking around. I noticed several options that featured birds, but they were doves or eagles. This got me wondering if they might have a falcon. All her life she was a movie-lover. Humphrey Bogart was her favorite actor, even though he was a little short! A falcon would be a good representative bird for Humphrey, but one was not available. So my sister and I decided to ask about having something made and the Maltese Falcon urn was born. We think it is a very fitting tribute to my movie-loving, Humphrey Borgart-loving mother! Thank you very much!
Linda was able to take her time by keeping her mother’s ashes in the box they came in until she found the perfect resting place. And that is ok; take your time for important decisions. Grieve in your own way and remember, we are here to help when you are ready.
