Personalized and Engraved Urn FAQs

We have compiled the following list of FAQs to provide answers to the most common questions, and remember that we are always here to help. Which types of urns can be custom engraved or personalized?

Custom engraving can only be provided on standard metal urns, and you can personalize many of our artistic urns by adding an engraved mounted plaque, or hand-painted text. When personalization is available, your options will be listed on the product page on our website.

• All standard metal urns without etched designs, or other obstructions can be engraved.
• We often add plaques engraved with your loved one's name and dates to our more artistic pieces such as our Diva Line and our Sports Urns.
• For urns where traditional engraving is not available, we can personalize your memorial with hand-painted text.

Is there an additional fee for custom urn engraving or personalization?

We do charge an additional fee for engraving and personalization:

• Engraving:  $15 for each line of custom engraved text.
• Engraved Plaque:  $25 for an engraved plaque (includes the first line of text; additional lines of text are $5 per line).
• Hand-painted text:  $15 per line.

How many lines of text can fit on a custom engraved urn or hand-painted personalization?

This depends on the size of the urn and the personalization option selected.  Generally, most engraved urns can accommodate up to two lines; however, some urns can have up to four lines of engraving. A Personalized Engraved Plaque can accommodate multiple lines, depending on the size of the plaque. Hand-Painted Personalization is limited to the size and shape of the urn.  We are always available to help you determine the number of lines based on the urn that you choose.

How many words can fit on a custom engraved or personalized urn?

The number of words/characters is based on the size of the area on which the text will be added. It is important to keep in mind that the more characters, the smaller the text will be.

Which font styles are available for custom engraved urns and hand-painted urns?

We offer engraving in two elegant font styles: Times and Vanessa.

For hand-painted personalization, our artists will base the custom lettering on your choice of either Bradley or Lucida.

Does custom engraving or personalization add to the amount of time it takes for me to receive the urn?

Custom engraving can add one to five additional business days for your order to arrive. We understand that your order may be time sensitive, therefore we do our best to engrave (or hand paint) and ship the urn as quickly as possible. Please contact us to determine actual engraving or personalization time.

Can a personalized or engraved urn be returned?

Once the urn is engraved, or otherwise personalized, it becomes a custom urn. We are unable to resell custom engraved/personalized urns, therefore these urns are not returnable. View our return policy here.
